On August 1, 2019, girls ages 11-17, along with a parent or chaperone, elected to attend a special Tour Your Future day trip to Cleveland, Ohio!

This opportunity included STEM tours and career panels with female STEM professionals at PPG and the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, hands-on activities, a luncheon and tour of Cleveland State University, sponsored by the Monte Ahuja College of Business, and  transportation from Carnegie Science Center to and from all the sites.

The tour began at PPG Substrate Protection-Pretreatment Division. Participants learned how PPG’s products are used to provide corrosion protection and improved paint adhesion for the Industrial, Automotive and Packaging industries. They participated in a career panel with female members of PPG’s sales, data, stewardship, quality, and technical departments, and received a behind-the-scenes tour of PPG's laboratories.

Our next stop included a tour and luncheon at Cleveland State University's Monte Ahuja College of Business. Participants enjoyed lunch at the College of Business while learning about the STEM offerings of CSU’s College of Business and College of Science. They received a campus tour including the Weston Ideation Lab, home to the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Our last stop included a tour of The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. Participants toured The Federal Reserve Bank’s Learning Center and Money Museum. They witnessed how robots move money in the cash department, visited the Old Vault and the Cash Lobby located outside their cash operations.
