Petroleum engineers are searching for gold–black gold, that is! Petroleum engineers are involved with the production of crude oil and natural gas, which we use as fuels. They design and test tools that are used to extract oil and gas from beneath the surface of the earth. Because of the nature of their job, petroleum engineers work closely with computers as well. Most petroleum engineers have a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering, chemical engineering, physics, or a related field.
