College Professors teach students in a wide variety of subjects at the university level. But, they never stop learning. Many professors continue to conduct research in their field and publish papers in academic journals. They may also publish their own books or textbooks. Professors develop curricula, plan lessons and assignments, and evaluate students by grading papers and tests. They advise students on how to achieve their career goals and supervise graduate students working toward advanced degrees. Most college professors have a doctorate, which is required to do independent research. For some schools, a master’s degree may be sufficient.
