Atmospheric Scientist

Atmospheric Scientists totally have their heads in the clouds! They study the Earth’s atmosphere, weather, and climate. They analyze data about the atmosphere including temperature, air pressure, and other properties. This meteorological data is collected using weather balloons, radar systems, and satellites. Atmospheric scientists work to understand environmental issues such as air pollution, drought, and ozone depletion, and how the climate is affected by these changes. A career as an atmospheric scientist starts with a bachelor’s degree in meteorology or a closely related field, and a doctorate is required for most research positions.
