Astrophysicist

Astrophysicists research things that sometimes make up the plot of a sci-fi film! They are a specific type of astronomer that studies the physics of the universe and the interactions between objects in outer space. They use physics, chemistry, mathematics, and computing to investigate the planets, stars, and galaxies in our universe. Today, astrophysicists do research in areas such as electromagnetism, statistical mechanics, molecular physics, and quantum mechanics. They explore space phenomenon such as dark matter, black holes, evolution of stars, star clusters, and neutron stars. For the most part, a doctorate in astronomy or astrophysics is required to pursue a career as an astrophysicist.
